Ideas for using At the Movies while we are social distancing:

Watch the movie ahead of time
Confirm that your group members have access to the movie through a streaming service or already own the DVD or Blu-ray. Ask your group to watch the movie ahead of time. Encourage them to make it a family movie night. Consider sending a few of the discussion questions ahead of time for families to discuss immediately following the movie. Send out the supply list or encourage students to have their Bible and some scratch paper available when you meet. When you bring your group together start with the icebreaker. Screen share a blank document or use a virtual whiteboard if available. During the discussion ask students to share responses from family members if they would like to. Do the Bible study and activity. Have students do the activity with whatever materials they have available at home.

Watch the movie at the same time
Confirm that your group members have access to the movie through a streaming service or already own the DVD or Blu-ray. Send out the supply list or encourage students to have their Bible and some scratch paper available when you meet. Start with the icebreaker activity. Screen share a blank document or use a virtual whiteboard if available. Following the icebreaker, break for everyone to logoff and watch the movie. Remember to build in some extra time for bathroom breaks and snack breaks. Not everyone will start and finish at the same time. Choose a time to reconvene the group. Discuss the film. Do the Bible study and activity. Have students do the activity with whatever materials they have available at home.
